In the 1970s, Joseph S. Petro bought an old burnt down house on a lot just off of Johnston Street. After sitting in ruins for years, he renovated the building, and out of the ashes came Bisbano’s Pizza Parlor. The signature pizzas and poboys at Bisbano’s have been drawing in locals and UL Lafayette students ever since. And it’s not just a pizza parlor: it's a community, complete with jazz nights, weekly live music, and stand-up comedy events. The restaurant also features Lafayette’s only underground tavern, providing plenty of fuel for Thursday night karaoke. Joseph’s son George is now continuing the family tradition of serving up some of the best pizza in the area, and Bisbano’s is still kicking it – keeping the beer cold, the pizza hot, and the good times rolling.
